A must for Loire Valley red lovers. Domaine du Bel Air has been making wine for five generations, but only selling it commercially since 1979. Run by Pierre Gauthier and his son Rodolphe, the estate achieved organic certification in 2000. While the estate specializes in age-worthy Cabernet Franc, the "Jour de Soif" (Day of Thirst) is their über-quaffable entry-level offering, meant to be drunk young. Medium in weight with crushed berry fruit, light tannins, and prominent minerality, this is fresh, yummy Cabernet Franc at its best. |
