| Description: | 97 JS / 96 Wa. Indice 1 (15.6% Alcohol) 2025-2045+. Very smoky and flinty with lychee, papaya and star-fruit aromas. A very concentrated and super-silky gewurz that has none of the massiveness or bitterness towards which the wines of this grape so easily tend. And that in spite of more than 15% alcohol! Indeed, the freshness on the finish reminds me of the best 2016 gewurz, though here it is married to greater ripeness. Wonderfully silky, long finish. Fermented until November 2021. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. –James Suckling. The golden-colored 2020 Gewurztraminer Rangen de Thann Clos Saint Urbain opens with ripe pear, dark chocolate, coriander and flinty aromas. On the palate, this is a rich, fresh, lively, piquant and grapefruit-bitter Gewürztraminer with fine tannins and long salinity. The finish is very long and still somewhat bitter, but this is a great, powerful and age-worthy Gewürz. Bottled with 15.6% de facto alcohol and 2.5 grams per liter of residual sugar.
