Donelli Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro Amabile
Lambrusco from Castelvetro
Description: | Wine maker notes Appropriately named Grasparossa, meaning "red stalk," the stalk and leaves turn red in the fall just before harvest on this strain of Lambrusco. Cultivated in the 18-hectare Il Fagiano vineyard located in the town of Castelvetro near the city of Modena, the vines average in age of about 20 years. Fruity aromas of tart red cherries mingle with notes of savory spices. On the palate, penetrating semi-sweet berry flavors come through with precision. The pure fruit and lively acidity is balanced perfectly by clean tannins on the finish. This slightly sweet bubbly pairs well with lighter fare, from salads and cold pastas, to fruits and desserts. Technical notes 90% Lambrusco Grasparossa, 10% Malbo Gentile. Food pairing ideal to accompany any typical dish from the Emilia's tradition, mainly to preserved meats, salami and tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce. Fantastic with roast meats. |
