Giuseppe Quintarelli Amabile del Cere Passito Bianco del Veneto

From Orange County

Vintage: 2003
Description: "Quintarelli's 2003 Amabile del Cerè is laced with a candied orange peel, crème brûlée, savory herbs and sweet spices. Round, soft and inviting, the 2003 presents a gorgeous combination of gently oxidative, burnished notes, but with more than enough freshness to continue to drink beautifully for a number of years. It is a shame these wines are produced so infrequently. Amabile del Cerè is Garganega and Sauvignon from the same fruit that Quintarelli uses for the Bianco Secco, although of course here the grapes are dried prior to being crushed. The Quintarelli family has been through a lot over the last few years, but, thankfully, things appear more settled down that at any other time in recent memory, which is great news for fans of this iconic estate, of which I am one. Bepi Quintarelli's grandson Francesco is making the wines and seems to have all the skills to be successful. For now, nothing much seems to have changed. The top wines spend years in cask and are bottled and sold only when ready. If there is one winery Quintarelli reminds me of it is Coche-Dury, as the estate inhabits a universe all on its own."
