| Description: | 92 pts Vinous Glass-staining ruby. Ripe, spice-accented cherry, blackberry, incense and a touch of cigar box on the highly perfumed nose. Sweet, expansive red and dark fruit flavors show a hint of candied licorice, and a smoky mineral quality adds energetic lift and focus. Rich yet lively, with no rough edges. The very long, sweet finish is framed by slow-building, silky tannins. 91+ pts Wine Advocate Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a spicy, cinnamon stick and incense scented nose over a core of crushed blackberries, blueberries and plums with cigar boxes and bay leaves going on in the background. Medium-bodied with commendable elegance and sophistication, there's a good mid-palate here of ripe fruit and firm, grainy tannins leading into a long earth and spice laced finish. 91 pts Wine Enthusiast This wine offers much of what makes Margaret River Cab so special, with the volume turned up a few notches. The fruit is on the darker spectrum: ripe cassis and blackberries, along with dusty library books, pencil lead, green bell pepper, a little floral element and a savory spine. More solidly in the full-bodied spectrum, the tannins are tightly wound and sinewy, wrapped around juicy fruit and an earthy core. Drink now–2033. |
