Don Miguel Gascom Mendoza, Argentina Malbec

Don Miguel Gascom Mendoza, Argentina Malbec

100% Malbec

Vintage: 2010
Description: During the 1940s, the Gascon family bottled Argentina's first 100% varietal Malbec. Now, Ernesto Catena, a fourth-generation winemaker, has brought the wines of Bodegas Escorihuela Gascon to high status in Argentina, and to prominence with critics and connoisseurs throughout the world. The wines of Don Miguel Gascon are crafted in Mendoza at the same winery built by the Spanish visionary whose name bears it. Built in 1884, the winery is an historic landmark in Argentine winemaking, yet houses some of the most advanced winemaking technology in the world. It's also home to 1884, an award-winning restaurant operated by chef Francis Mallman. Don Miguel Gascon Malbec hails from Mendoza, which accounts for more than 80% of Argentine wine.?By selecting grapes from vineyards at varying elevations throughout Mendoza's high valleys, the winemakers achieve superb balance in the finished wine. The high altitude places the vineyards under intense sunlight, which translates into wines with extraordinary flavors and aromas.
