Chateau Cabrieres Chateauneuf Du Pape Les Silex De Cabriere

Vintage: 2019
Description: We taste a lot of wine from the Southern Rhne and its best regarded appellation, Chateauneuf du Pape. Every once in a while, we come across a wine that surprises us with its combination of delicious drink ability and great price. Les Silex from Chateau Cabrieres is such a wine and we find it irresistible!. This delicious Rhone blend is full-bodied and laden with rich and flavorful fruit flavors, yet remains fresh and inviting. The lushly palated wine evokes flavors of kirsch, blueberry, baking spice and garrigue, which is a signature from Chateauneuf. The tannins are impossibly smooth and silky. Josh Reynolds of Vinous Media awarded this wine a score of 94 Points noting its, " complex, expansive bouquet evokes spice-accented red fruit liqueur, potpourri and garrigue " and its, " impressively long, focused finish framed by supple, well-knit tannins.". This 2019 is open for business and is drinking great right now. A blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. Elegant with expressive notes of red fruits. The Arnaud family has owned the Chteau Cabrires property for three generations. In 2009, Guy Arnaud handed over the estate to his daughter, Agnes who married Patrick Vernier. Today, Agnes and Patrick are running the estate together. Vernier and Rhne winemaking legend, Philippe Cambie crafted this wine together and the result is very impressive. Chteau Cabrires is located in the village of Chteauneuf-du-Pape, in the Vaucluse department. The property dates back centuries, in fact vines have been planted here since 1344. The terrain consists of clay, silex and limestone on a plateau with large flint pebbles covering the surface. These pebbles conserve the heat of the day during the night keeping the vines warm. The quality to price ratio for Les Silex des Cabrieres is off the charts and this is undoubtedly our best Chateauneuf du Pape deal of the year. Vinous Media 94 Points - "Shimmering ruby-red. A complex, expansive bouquet evokes spice-accented red fruit liqueur, potpourri and garrigue, and a smoky mineral nuance builds in the glass. Appealingly sweet raspberry, cherry cola and lavender flavors smoothly blend richness and energy. The spice and mineral notes drive an impressively long, focused finish framed by supple, well-knit tannins."
