| Description: | From the small, historic Chalone AVA, where some exceptional Mourvèdre is planted at 1,700ft/520m elevation on soils of limestone and granite. The grapes are whole-cluster fermented, with miminal intervention thereafter. The nose is smoky, with aromas of black cherries, black plums, violets, nutmeg, cinnamon, and sage, while the palate has a firm, grainy tannic structure and fresh, lively acidity. Concentrated but very easy to drink. |
