Fritz Allendorf Geisenheimer Rothenberg Riesling Auslese

Vintage: 1969
Description: 1969 Geisenheimer Rotenberg Riesling Auslese 100% Riesling 8.5% Alc. Rheingau - Germany Rothenberg The name Rothenberg, or "red mountain", is derived from the vineyard's red, iron oxide-rich soils. The vineyard was first officially documented in 1145 and today comprises 20 hectares (50 ac) of vines planted on south-facing slopes. The unique grape-growing conditions found at this site are ideal for the development of botrytis, the key contributing factor in the production of Rothenberg's noble sweet wines. Along with its sweet Rieslings, this vineyard also makes dry Riesling wines with good aging potential.
