Description: | Easy for you to say.we actually were surprised to learn that this white grape is among the (some say the) most planted grapes in the world. Yet we suspect most of you have not tasted it since most of the plantings are in eastern Europe, Georgia and Russia. Heck, a lot of folks hadn't had Vranec before a couple of months ago. It is increasingly hard to find interesting whites in this price range so discoveries like this may be of much greater consequence moving forward. Maybe that's why Eric Solomon is importing the stuff and why the talented Philippe Cambie made the trek to Macedonia (yes, Macedonia) in the first place. Apparently he can make white wine, too! This is the second wine from Tikves that has impressed for both its style and its value. So what does it taste like? It has Riesling like crispness and a faint hint of sweetness to the floral/apple/pear/kumquat flavors. There is a surprising tactile element and distinct minerality, making this a very interesting and versatile beverage. Rkaciteli for all my friends, particularly at this kind of price!.
