La Badiola Acquagiusta Rosso Tuscany, Italy Red Blend

La Badiola Acquagiusta Rosso Tuscany, Italy Red Blend

A Proprietary Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah

Vintage: 2007
Description: Renowned chef Alain Ducasse had a dream. In the spring of 2004 he fulfilled it, creating a wine-focused hotel, resort and vineyard in the heart of the Maremma area of Tuscany. L'Andana Resort was built within the 1,200-acre La Badiola Estate, between Chianti and Siena. Tenuta La Badiola boasts 75 acres of hillside vineyards, growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Those are the three varieties that make up the wine known as "Acquagiusta," which comes from the name of the spring that runs directly under the estate. There are basically equal amounts of each variety in the cuvee, with just a little less Syrah than Cab or Merlot. Tenuta La Badiola also makes white and rosé-style wines, but the undisputed star of the show is this red blend. Could Ducasse have envisioned creating such a flavorful, satisfying wine when he built his resort and planted his vineyard? Given his passion, we'd guess the answer is yes.
