| Description: | Kékfrankos is the same variety as Blaufränkisch in neighboring Austria (they both mean "blue French grape"). From Eger, on the same volcanic soils that lead into Tokaj, the wine spends 20 months in a type of local oak which doesn't allow evaporation – alcohol is just 12.5%. This is a full, juicy wine that's almost bloody (the local wine was traditionally called "Bull's Blood") with floral, spicy, herbal aromas, lively acidity, and a firm tannic grip. |
