Spain from Spain

Vintage: 2012
Description: Wow! We had the new Dave Phinney Locations "e-2" last night and it was astounding! This beautiful blend of Garnacha, Tempranillo and Carinena tastes like a $35 bottle of wine. At only $16.95 a bottle this wine is an absolute steal!. 2012 marks the second vintage of a Spanish Red Wine made from the finest varietals and locations throughout Spain. Grenache/Garnacha from Priorat, Tempranillo and Grenache/Garnacha from Rioja, and Carignan/CariƱena from Ribera del Duero frame a perfectly balanced expression of what this dynamic wine producing land is all about. Extensive travel with a keen eye on quality, has led winemaker Dave Phinney throughout historic vineyard sites leading to an eclectic and unconventional approach to blending fruit from various regions. Favoring rocky, hillside slopes with struggling vines, a network of prime sources to draw upon has been established. Unchained from traditional laws governing appellation and composition has allowed for optimum creativity and stylistic advances in the bottle. Winemaker's Notes - The wine has a vibrant ruby color with a scarlet band on the rim. The aromas take a minute to awaken, and then take off into a blend of ripe boysenberry, stone fruit, warm spice, and a hint of oak. A rich entry leads to a robust and savory mid palette that is intense and concentrated with a persistent finish of ripe, soft tannins. Extremely well balanced with proper weight and structure, the wine is ready to drink now.
