| Description: | This was love at first sight. The English Hill vineyard near Occidental was planted in 2005, partly with an (alleged) suitcase clone from Vosne-Romanée, and on this evidence it's beginning to produce very high-quality fruit. 35% whole bunch fermentation and ageing in 10% new oak results in a wonderfully attractive nose that's full of red fruits, herbs, and flowers, leading into a palate with light, grainy tannins, earth, and spice. Seductive. |
