Domaine Talmard Macon-Chardonnay

Domaine Talmard Macon-Chardonnay

Chardonnay from Maconnais

Vintage: 2012
Description: Domaine Talmard was founded in 1971 by two brothers, Paul and Philibert Talmard. This 100 acre estate spans two communes, Uchizy and Chardonnay. Shortly after the turn of the millennium, the brothers divided their domaine in order to share their winemaking dreams with their sons. As a result, Philibert and his son Gerald built a new cellar adjacent to the original one. Almost all the other growers in Chardonnay sell their grapes to the cooperative; ergo Talmard is the only estate-bottled Chardonnay. 50 acres of vineyards are planted predominantly within the commune of Chardonnay thought to be the geographical origin of the variety and thus the Domaine is entitled to label their wine as AOC Macon-Chardonnay. Technical notes Fruit harvested from vines planted in clay and calcareous soils was picked at ripeness. The wine was fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks.
