Alamos Mendoza, Argentina Malbec

Alamos Mendoza, Argentina Malbec

100% Malbec

Vintage: 2012
Description: Alamos aims to make wines that are as good as wines twice their price. The philosophy is to craft flavorful, drinkable wines that preserve each varietal's distinctive aroma, flavor and texture. Some of the Alamos wines (like this one) acquire additional complexity from moderate oak aging. Grapes for Alamos are hand-harvested to ensure gentle handling. A double manual selection process ensures that only the best grapes are used. The wines are made at Bodega Alamos, a state-of-the-art facility in Vistaflores, part of Argentina's vast Mendoza region. The winemaking team is led by Felipe Stahlschmidt, who received his viticultural degree from the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. The 2012 Alamos Malbec has a dark purple color with violet highlights. The nose offers bright fruit and floral aromas, and the mouthfeel is full and rich, with ripe, concentrated fruit interwoven with chocolate and sweet spice — all in all, a wine for which you'd expect to pay much more.
